Tell me more please about your sketchbook i.e., who is the maker? what is the size? and how well does it respond to watercolor? Thank you.
It’s a Hahnemuhle travel sketchbook. I particularly like the binding, which opens flat enough for me to scan. I would have bought an A5 landscape version but my local art shop didn’t have that size in stock, so I’m going for my old favourite a spiral bound Pink Pig, made locally. I’ve just ordered five A5 landscape.
The Hahnemuhle takes ink and watercolour well but I think that it’s slightly sized, so the wash does stay on the surface to some extent. It’s not a problem but I prefer the slightly more absorbent surface of the 150 gsm cartridge paper in the Pink Pig. The Pink Pig is also about as near as I can find to a pure white, which makes scanning a bit easier. There used to be a ‘brilliant’ white sketchbook produced by Rowney which I used for years but they discontinued it.

Thank you for answering my questions. I was curious about the books you mentioned, Pink Pig, so looked on the internet and found that they are only available in the UK so I’ll have to wait for US distribution to give them a try. Thanks again for your postings which are interesting and educational.
